Investment in India
The Government has opened route for the NRIs to invest in
India. NRIs can enter through industrial, financial or even service sectors.
There are two options for non resident investment in India. They are as
cited below:
- NRIs can undertake imports into India and exports from India and set
up a joint venture (JV) with a focus on the domestic market.
- NRIs may also shift their production base to India by investing in
100 per cent export oriented units (EOUs). Now India is welcoming direct
foreign investment virtually to all industries.
Apart from these two, NRIs can also invest through the
following:
- Automatic Route Of RBI With Repatriation Benefits - NRIs can now
invest in shares or convertible debentures of Indian companies under
Automatic Route. It do not requires the permission of Government or RBI
except for few sectors. There permission of FIPB/ SIA is necessary.
- Investment With Government Approval - The investments that are not
allowed through Automatic Route are considered by Foreign Investment
Promotion Board (FIPB).
- Other Investments With Repatriation Benefits:
- Investment in Domestic Mutual Funds
- Investment in Bonds Issued By Public Sector Undertakings
- Purchase of Shares Of Public Sector Enterprises (By NRIs/PIOs/OCBs)
- Deposits with Companies (For A Minimum Period Of Three Years)
- Investment in Government Securities/Shares
- Investment Upto 100% Equity Without Repatriation Benefits - They are
Capital Contribution to any Proprietary or Partnership Concern and New
Issues of Shares/Debentures of Indians Companies.
- Other Investments by NRIs/OCBs Without Repatriation Benefits
- Investment in Non Convertible Debentures
- Money Market Mutual Funds
- Deposits With Companies
- Commercial Papers (OCBs are presently not permitted)
Taxation

The following are few of the NRI tax services described in brief:
Allotment of PAN: On your request we obtain the PAN from
the department. For this we e-mail you the standard format where you furnish
your details. After receiving the furnished mail from your end, we prepare
an e-mail application for obtaining the Permanent Account Number. This is
send to you through mail. You download, sign and send it back to us. We
submit it to the Income-tax Department and the card will be sent to you by
the I.T. Department.
Helping in filing of Return of Income:We send you a
standard format through e-mail and require you to furnish details of Income.
After doing so, you send it back to us. Based on the information, we compute
your tax liability or refund. Then we e-mail you the Return of Income. You
download, sign and send it back with the required enclosures. We assess
everything and guide you to file the Return.
Apart from this we give expert guidance on wealth tax, capital gains and
other specific advice related to taxation.
